FEMA Launches Web Video to Assist Indiana Flood Victims

Key points in the video are the registration numbers, the registration deadline, information you should have on hand before calling, the importance of completing SBA forms (yes, you should do so whether you want a loan or not), and a timetable of events.

Not sure what to expect when you call to register for disaster assistance? A new video on the FEMA Web site aims to change all that. The five-minute video tells about important deadlines for registration and familiarizes viewers with the application process.

FEMA is also asking state and local officials to include the link on their Web sites in an effort to reach as many disaster-affected residents as possible. In addition to Web viewings, the video is being shown on area public access television stations such as Insight's IN13 in the Lafayette/Tippecanoe county area.

"The media is our partner in any disaster," said Mike Smith, FEMA federal coordinating officer for the Indiana response. "Anyone who carries our message, whether it's Internet or a broadcast or print outlet, is helping to speed the recovery process."

Key points in the video are the registration numbers, the registration deadline, information you should have on hand before calling, the importance of completing SBA forms (yes, you should do so whether you want a loan or not), and a timetable of events.

To view the "Register Now" video go to www.fema.gov. Click on Disaster Declarations > Declared Disasters by Year or State > Indiana > 1740.  The electronic link is:
