Social Services Department Puts Legislative Reports Online

The Washington DSHS turned to the Web to cut costs and make the reports widely available.

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Legislatively mandated reports from the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) are now available on the Internet.

A new Web site created by the DSHS' Legislative Relations Division now provides the public with a convenient way to find the reports while saving taxpayers' money by reducing printing, publication and distribution costs.

Each year, the Legislature requires the DSHS to produce reports to lawmakers on various issues within the department. Legislators, interested groups and the public can log on to the Legislative Relations Internet site to read, download or print any of the posted reports.

In addition, visitors to the site can use an e-mail feature on the Web site to send their thoughts about the reports directly to the DSHS, and those comments will be monitored daily.

Officials of the DSHS said the following reports are now available on the Web site: "Foster Parent Retention and Stability of Foster Parent Progress Report", "Mental Health System Performance Audit Report", and "Establishment of Secure Crisis Residential Centers".
