How many drivers video chat while behind the wheel?

Answer: 10 percent

Driving distractions go far beyond text messaging, according to a survey from AT&T, which found that 40 percent of smartphone users check social media, almost 30 percent search the Internet while on the road, and 10 percent even video chat.

Out of the 70 percent of drivers who use their smartphone behind the wheel, texting and emailing remain the most common activities.

In collaboration with social platforms, AT&T plans to use the survey data to help launch a nationwide virtual reality tour this summer as a way to promote awareness of the potential dangers involved with using a smartphone while driving.
