A team of researchers from Microsoft, Adobe and MIT developed a visual microphone algorithm that can detect audio by looking at microscopic vibrations in video footage.

The team used specialized cameras that can shoot at 6,000 frames per second to pick up audio on the other side of pane of glass by focusing on an object, like a plant ... or a bag of potato chips.
