What new device could bring wind power into urban areas?
Answer: the Wind Tree
The Wind Tree, which will be piloted in Paris next year, uses 72 leaf-shaped turbines designed to harness the gentle winds of urban areas. While most wind farms are in rural areas or in the ocean, French entrepreneur Jérôme Michaud-Larivière is developing technology that could bring wind power everywhere. The turbines are reportedly completely silent and when the product comes to market, one tree is expected to cost about $36,500.
