What looks like a wall built with more than 187,000 bricks?

Answer: a visualization of the New York Public Library’s recent mass digitization project

New York Public Library Labs released more than 187,000 digital items in to the public domain on Jan. 6.

The project, just one of the office’s many experiments, is visualized in a mosaic where each scanned art piece, letter and document form strata that show the user the geologic scale of the collection. The pieces can be sorted by century, era, color or genre, and each piece is examined in detail along with its metadata.
