Extranet Deployed to Navy Training Managers

BURLINGTON, Mass. -- More than 3,000 Navy training managers will use a secure extranet to gain access to mission-critical data on manpower, personnel and training issues. The Navy Training and Management Planning System (NTMPS), operated by the Chief of Naval Education and Training, now includes a business intelligence solution that allows managers to report on and analyze data about funding, facilities, personnel, manpower and equipment.
NTMPS is organized by warfare area and is a comprehensive information management system that serves as the Navy's central repository for manpower, personnel and training data. The new multi-dimensional analysis solution, provided by Cognos, provides data and analysis capabilities anytime, anywhere through a secure extranet, enabling Navy personnel to make rapid decisions and take immediate action.
