General Electric released images on Jan. 7 showcasing a new body scanning device called Revolution CT. As the images show, the machine can provide health professionals with far more detailed images of the body’s internal workings than what is available in most hospitals today.

West Kendall Baptist Hospital in Florida became the first U.S. medical institution to begin using the machine in September. By providing high-resolution imagery of blood vessels, soft tissue, organs and bone, medical professionals are able to view clear images of a patient’s beating heart, expanding and contracting lungs, liver and other innards -- with reduced exposure to radiation.
