An infographic published Aug. 18 by independent research group the Tax Foundation shows the relative value of $100 in all 50 states.

As shown above, states like California, Hawaii, New York and other Northeastern states have a relatively higher cost of living, while residents of the Midwest and South can get as much as $115 in goods and services for $100.
