Law enforcement's use of drones is on the rise. From surveying a potentially dangerous crime scene to their potential for traffic surveillance reporting, unmanned aerial vehicles are likely coming to a police force near you — and they may even be used to apprehend suspects. According to a recent report, Taser International is exploring the possibility of equipping drones with stun guns for use by police forces.

Questions about drones being used to engage suspects have been lingering since the Dallas Police Department in July used a bomb-disposal robot armed with explosives to neutralize a gunman who had killed five officers. Although the concept is still in its infancy, Taser International already supplies many police departments with body cameras and Tasers, so stun-gun-toting drones being added to the mix is certainly possible.
