Seattle Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is a nationally recognized program for its innovative and ongoing efforts in preparedness education and community outreach. Within the "Whole of Community" philosophy, the Office engages the community in planning, preparedness, training, exercises, and special initiatives that are centered on racial and social justice and equitable outcomes. Our community’s ability to survive and recover from a disaster is a shared mission between government and the community. OEM has several programs aimed at increasing community resilience. We encourage neighborhood preparedness through our Seattle Neighborhoods Actively Prepared (SNAP) program and reach non-English-speaking communities with vital training through our Community Safety Ambassador program.
We are recruiting for an Outreach and Training Specialist to join our Outreach Team comprised of another Outreach and Training Specialist, Volunteer Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, and the Community Relations Manager. We are seeking someone who will be dedicated to utilizing existing and innovative methods in developing, improving, delivering, and evaluating emergency preparedness educational programs intended to reach the city's diverse makeup of residents, businesses, City employees, neighborhoods, and community partners. The goal through these programs is to guide the community on protecting lives and property, and helping the overall community attain self-sufficiency in anticipation of emergencies and disasters.
