In an interdepartmental memo obtained by Government Technology, City Manager Sheryl Sculley announced that Miller, who has been with the city since 2004, had accepted a position with a technology startup. His last day with the city will be Friday, Oct. 28.
Prior to his role in San Antonio as CIO and CTO, Miller worked as a network engineer for travel website Priceline.com and as a network service supervisor with the San Antonio Water System.
Sculley said that during his 12 years with the municipal government Miller provided technology “leadership, vision and support” across the larger city enterprise.
“I would like to thank Hugh for his service to the city of San Antonio and extend best wishes as he transitions to his next venture,” she said in the memo to executive staff.
Until a permanent replacement for Miller is found, Sculley said Applications Division Assistant Director Kevin Goodwin will fill in as interim CTO. Goodwin has been on the city payroll since 2004.
