What Was Your #FirstTweet?

In its eighth year, Twitter launches a campaign to look back at the beginning — so we take a look back at some CIO and IT leaders' first posts.

Twitter's been around long enough now (it launched in July 2006), that today it started a #FirstTweet campaign. Anyone with a Twitter account can visit discover.twitter.com/first-tweet and see exactly how they began their foray into microblogging.

Palo Alto, Calif., CIO Jonathan Reichental, for instance, tweeted his first message on March 30, 2007 — and he shared his #FirstTweet again today:

I found my #FirstTweet: https://t.co/LehhK8a49u. What was yours? http://t.co/QhtMMZvQUo — Jonathan Reichental (@Reichental) March 20, 2014
Also in the Bay Area, San Francisco Chief Innovation Officer Jay Nath (@Jay_Nath) sent his first tweet on March 11, 2009. "working from home and grazing on anything i can find," he wrote.

And California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom's (@GavinNewsom) #FirstTweet, on Dec. 19, 2007, was about his volunteering: "Helping the San Francisco Food Bank feed those who would otherwise go hungry this holiday season. Donate at http://www.sffoodbank.org/," he wrote.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, Chief Innovation Officer Adel Ebeid (@adelebeid) tweeted for the first time on Nov. 10, 2011:

In the Lone Star State, CIO Karen Robinson (@kwrobinsonTXCIO) tweeted for the first time on Jan. 18, 2012, saying, "Hello world! I'm Karen Robinson, CIO for Texas. Looking to connect with folks interested in #gov20 #egov #tech #leadership."

Looking northwest to Utah, CTO David Fletcher (@dfletcher) has been tweeting since January 2008. His first tweet? "Working on CTO weekly update."

And the National Association of Chief Information Officers shared its first tweet from March 4, 2009:
