Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Integrates Data

September 11, 2003 By

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina sought a way to integrate various agencies' data securely. The department has selected Briyante Software Corp. to provide products and services as part of their overall enterprise integration strategy.

The company will provide justice integration server (JIS) software and related systems integration services. The JIS allows all agencies within the justice and public safety arena to share information with one another in a safe and controlled manner. Agencies with disparate systems (RMS, CAD, JMS, CMS, etc.) can publish or access relevant data without the need for programming. Agencies are free to share as much or as little data with their partners in a highly secure manner without having to give up ownership of the data. Installation will be complete by September 30, 2003.

The department is located in Charlotte, and employs 2,000 people who are divided among 12 patrol districts. As a consolidated police department, it serves the citizens of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, a jurisdiction with a population of approximately 680,000 citizens. The department is the largest local law enforcement agency between Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Ga.
