The immediate reaction from government authorities was “not so fast!” The current versions of the RNA vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna have been very effective at preventing hospitalizations and deaths, even from the Delta variant.
Pfizer cites preliminary data from Israel as to the effectiveness of the new vaccine appearing to be tailing off a bit after six months.
For now, we’ll need to sit tight and let the scientists duke it out and see what the statistics show. One thing is for sure — of the 9,775 deaths in June here in the U.S., 98.2 percent of them were people who chose not to be vaccinated. That simple math tells me something is still working!
