The event will challenge teams of student and professional software developers to come up with the next great innovation to improve health care. The Code-a-thon is part of a series from Health 2.0, which hosts similar events throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Former U.S. CTO Aneesh Chopra described Virginia’s health-care economy as “on the move,” in a recent interview with Health 2.0 News. Chopra points to several factors indicative of Virginia’s leadership in health-care IT, including a preponderance of health-care IT startups, the launch of electronic health-care records, and a law calling for interoperability standards.
At the Code-a-thon, Chopra will headline a panel of experts delivering presentations relating to the role of technology in modern health care.
