Brief: MNsure Reveals Website Makeover

The improved site includes a new homepage design, and offers improved navigation and typography to make scanning content easier.

Minnesota’s version of the health insurance marketplace will launch a revamped website on Wednesday.

The improved MNsure site — still at mnsure.org — makes finding information simpler, includes a new homepage design, and offers improved navigation and new typography to make scanning and reading content easier, the agency promised in a news release.

The website makeover comes in advance of this year’s open enrollment period, which begins Nov. 15 and ends Feb. 15. That’s considerably shorter than last year’s enrollment period, which began on Oct. 1 and didn’t end until March 31.

In its debut year, the website had some growing pains. The consulting firm Deloitte told the MNsure board in June that only 26 of the website’s 73 components had worked as expected, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

Still, more than 360,000 enrolled in insurance care via MNsure, the agency said in its news release.

Minnesotans who want to renew their coverage for 2015 need to return to the MNsure website beginning Nov. 15 to do so, the news release noted.
