New York City's CTO Heads to the Private Sector Miguel Gamiño, New York City's chief technology officer, is headed back to the private sector after years in city government IT. He's not giving any details yet, but he said he's headed to a new venture that will align with what he's been doing all along.
Want Data on Opioid Use? It's Beneath Your Feet. BioBot Analytics, a startup coming out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is looking for city partners to test a system that gathers data on opioid use from sewage systems. The company just won the South by Southwest mayoral pitch competition, with several GovTech 100 companies coming in as runner-ups.

New York City Subway Authority Awards $2.5M for Tech Ideas The Metropolitan Transit Authority has picked eight winners for its "Genius Transit Challenge."
