Longtime information technology professional Gee Chow has been named chief information officer of Miami’s Innovation and Technology Department, replacing interim CIO Otto Contreras.

City Manager Art Noriega announced the appointment last month along with two other additions to the city’s leadership team, including Lakisha Hull as the city’s planning director and Larry Spring as assistant city manager and chief financial officer (CFO).

At the time, Noriega said in a release, “I am pleased to welcome Mr. Larry Spring as our new CFO and Ms. Hull as well as Mr. Chow as our newest department directors to the city of Miami. I am confident that these professionals, based on their experience and qualifications, possess the skills necessary to successfully carry out our vision for the future."

Chow brings more than 15 years of experience to the role. He has served as the director of information technology for the city of St. Cloud, Fla., CIO of Coral Gables, Fla., and CIO of St. Lucie County’s Board of County Commissioners.

As for Chow’s predecessor, Contreras will continue to serve as the city’s deputy CIO.
