Google Maps Restricts Its API, Government Collectively Shrugs The Internet giant is making it more difficult for users to access its mapping platforms' various APIs, which likely means some users will look for alternatives. That could have impacts for some casual government users who don't have much programming knowledge, and for civic hackers trying to map public data. But for government IT workers and people with big projects? It doesn't seem like a big deal.
