FBI Website Targets Bank Robbers

January 21, 2013 By

Criminals may want to reconsider planning and executing a bank heist. Why? Because earlier this month, the FBI unveiled a national website to identify unknown suspects that partake in bank robberies.

The website, bankrobbers.fbi.gov displays photos of individuals caught in the act of a bank robbery, and descriptive information such as the robber’s height, what he or she was wearing during the robbery and the bank where the crime was commited.

Below the photos, a Google map plots each of the locations where the unknown suspects committed the robbery.

According to the FBI, its Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force works with local law enforcement to combat bank robberies. The FBI is attempting to remove the threat of violence from institutions like banks by identifying suspects of bank robberies and holding them accountable.
