LTE Wireless by the Numbers (Infographic)

Long term evolution wireless networks are gaining ground -- here's what you need to know.

Back in the summer of 2012, public safety agencies in Florida's Pinellas and Hillsborough counties worked with vendors to test a Public Safety Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Many advantages were noted, such as security, dedicated bandwidth, and the ability to use advanced technology on the network. Overall, the test was considered a success; no significant problems were found.

And LTE is gaining much ground in the wireless arena. As TechHive reported, carriers are "spending megabucks to build out their new LTE networks, which they say will pump out 10 times more mobile bandwidth than older 3G networks do."

The infographic below shares what this new standard means, which carriers are upgrading and just how quickly the faster network is growing. lte-numbers-final-2-100038714-large.png
