As learning environments move toward digital learning settings, it is critical that everyone involved has ready access to essential tools and materials.
The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) continues to support the work of current and aspiring superintendents and district leadership teams in leading all aspects of digital learning transformations.
Recently, CoSN shared information with the Center for Digital Education readers about the CoSN Empowered Superintendents Toolkit. Today, CoSN is pleased to share a one-page resource for school leaders focused on the issue of accessibility. As learning environments continue the move toward digital learning settings, it is critical that everyone involved has ready access to all essential tools and materials. The CoSN document on accessibility can be viewed here.
Accessibility is an essential principle in delivering equal educational opportunities for all students, including those with disabilities and English language learners. But accessibility impacts more than students. Schools and districts also need to ensure that all information provided to the public, parents, guardians and staff is accessible as well. In short, accessibility is part of the education equation. Districts need to keep accessibility policies and practices front and center — and equally important they need to make their commitment vocal and visible.
We hope to see you at the annual CoSN conference next week, March 12-15, in Washington, D.C.
If your school or district would like more information about joining CoSN or getting more involved with CoSN, please contact Brian Calvary, CAE, CoSN director of Membership and Chapters, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
