Internet service provider Fidium Fiber is expanding services to more than 4,800 additional homes and businesses in the Monadnock Region. The project will include new fiber-optic lines in at least four towns.

Fiber connection
(TNS) — Fidium Fiber is expanding its Internet services to more than 4,800 additional homes and businesses in the Monadnock Region, the company announced in a news release Friday.

As part of the expansion project, Fidium will install new fiber-optic lines along roads and in public utility areas in Acworth, Alstead, Richmond and Winchester, the release states.

The construction, which may begin as early as next week, could last several months, according to the company.

The work will entail crew members climbing utility poles, and may lead to traffic disruption, noise and dust. Paint markings and flags will indicate areas where construction is active, and crews will work along private property within the right-of-way, the news release states.

"Mailers, door hangers and construction alerts will be distributed to keep the public informed, and Fidium representatives will be visiting neighborhoods to share more about what to expect during construction and how to sign up to be the first notified as soon as service is ready to install."

Fidium already provides fiber Internet services to 248,000 homes and businesses across multiple locations in New Hampshire, according to Kyle Thweatt, senior communications specialist at Consolidated Communications, Fidium's parent company.
