California Restructures CALNET II Telecommunications RFP

Four modules up for bid

On Monday, the California Department of General Services released a memo to vendors from Sandra Bierer, Department of Technology Services' Network Services chief, regarding changes to the CALNET II program, a billion-dollar contract for telecommunications services. Instead of bidding on a single bundled contract, CALNET II has been split into four separate modules. The modules are:
  • Core services (local voice and statewide data)
  • Long distance voice
  • Internet Protocol services
  • Broadband fixed wireless access
The revised CALNET II RFP is available online.
