Portland Public Transit Partners with ZipCar

Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, will station a total of six vehicles at the city's TriMet locations.

Starting this week, Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, will station a total of six vehicles at three Portland TriMet locations: the Beaverton, Gateway and Orenco Station park-and-ride lots.

The addition of Zipcars along TriMet MAX Lines (which run every 15 minutes or better most of the day, every day, according to TriMet) makes the service more accessible to the existing car-sharing community and encourages the use of public transportation by providing cost effective and convenient travel options for transit riders.

Given that the cost of renting a ZipCar is about $10 (or more) an hour, we're assuming TriMet sees this as something that can be used for errands and visits. Otherwise, it would be (a lot) cheaper to drive to work and park.
