“Our relationship with Amazon Web Services will be a great benefit to federal agencies,” said Jack Dangermond, president of Esri. “Many of our federal and public-sector customers want to share their work in the cloud and now they have a solution for modernizing their workflows with ArcGIS in a cloud that is physically and logically accessible by U.S. persons only.”
Enabling cloud technology to be used with Esri products, the company said in a press release, will allow contractors and government to work together on projects together, while maintaining security and utilizing “virtually unlimited computing power for intensive GIS analyses and data processing.”
“With Esri ArcGIS technology in GovCloud, federal agencies can efficiently build and manage geospatial content including basemaps, image services and data,” a press release reads. “Existing Esri federal government users can more easily share their own GIS applications and data with other agencies.”
