The three-year-old TechWire.net will continue to operate as a stand-alone website, focusing on policy challenges and market opportunities created by the rapid infusion of technology into traditional infrastructure -- like power grids and transportation systems -- as well as government programs. The site’s emphasis on covering these issues for a business audience complements e.Republic’s existing govtech.com and governing.com platforms, which serve primarily government readers.

TechWire founder and publisher Bill Maile will become industry and markets editor for e.Republic.
“I look forward to increasing our coverage in the California marketplace and better serving the technology community here,” said Maile. “This is a great opportunity to take our operation to the next level.”
Prior to launching TechWire in 2011, Maile was communications director for the California Technology Agency and state CIO Teri Takai, who is now chief information officer for the U.S. Department of Defense. Maile also served as deputy press secretary for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
