What "trendy" name was a baby recently given?

November 30, 2012 By

Answer: Hashtag

We’re used to celebrities giving their babies odd names, but a new name has surfaced that has many news outlets going Eh? (And yes, "Eh" is another new baby name out there.)

On Nov. 24, 2012, a woman gave birth to a 10-pound baby girl named Hashtag Jameson. The birth was announced on Facebook (another baby name, different parents) and not Twitter, which is rather #disappointing. Yes, you’re probably thinking all cool technical jargon, much like Mashable saying kids in school will “an-TAG-onize” her and Huffington Post’s article asking if she’ll only be able to speak in 140-character phrases.

What would techies name their babies? Perl and Java are pretty neat, and although cloud and big data are hot topics, that might be going a bit too far. Let’s start a thread of cool techie names. If you tweet it, use #govtech. And, if you want to name your newborn Govtech, we’d be flattered — but please don’t do it!
