NASCIO Announces Green IT Videos

November 9, 2008 By

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) now features streaming video from state CIOs around the country discussing the importance of going green in government IT practices today. "Green IT: CIOs Speak Out!" highlights state CIO involvement and current state initiatives geared toward greening state government.

Featuring seven state CIOs speaking to topics such as power management, alternative work weeks, consolidation and others, these streaming video clips provide an "at a glance" perspective on green practices in states and ways that state CIOs -- and their governors -- are recognizing the importance of green government.

These streaming videos, available on both NASCIO's Web site and YouTube channel, serve as a precursor to a full green IT DVD, for which production is under way. The Green IT Video Working Group, which will provide oversight for this project, is chaired by Dugan Petty, CIO of Oregon. This video project is a collaborative effort between NASCIO's state and corporate members, and is being sponsored by the following companies: Adobe Systems, BDNA, CGI, Citrix Systems, HP, Intel, Microsoft, Symantec, Unisys and Verizon Business.
