This is great video that does a nice job capturing the current big data landscape in government across many perspectives. States and localities are just beginning to explore how they can make their data useful and usable, whether to citizens or to their own organizations. The key to success will be transforming this data into useful, valuable information, either through analytics or application development on integrated data. Some government organizations are already running big data analytics to recover state tax revenue, improve service delivery and programs or optimize their funding and planning efforts, and the possibilities for citizen-facing apps are endless. It’s exciting to watch this trend develop, and I look forward to following your coverage of it!
