Private-Sector Exec Takes Reins as Arizona CIO

Morgan Reed, former Expedia executive, takes Arizona's top technology spot.

The state of Arizona has named a new chief information officer following a nearly year-long gap in permanent leadership.

Morgan Reed, former executive with online travel magnate Expedia, has signed on as Arizona’s new CIO, according to his LinkedIn account.

The state had been slow to replace Aaron Sandeen, who announced his plans to leave for work in the private sector last November.

Reed also served in a variety of roles at Web hosting company GoDaddy.com since 2002, and previously worked for the Intel Corporation and Wells Fargo.

Eyragon Eidam is the web editor for Government Technology magazine, after previously serving as assistant news editor and covering such topics as legislation, social media and public safety. He can be reached at eeidam@erepublic.com.
