AWS Champions Program 2025

These K-12 institutions are pioneering cloud-based solutions that enhance student success, strengthen cybersecurity, streamline operations, and deliver data-driven insights — setting new standards for digital transformation in primary and secondary education.

Education Service Center Region 13 (Texas)

Education Service Center Region 13 (ESC13) has been named a 2025 AWS Champions Award winner for its bold innovation in building Pulse, an AI-powered education platform that transforms how teachers interact with data and support student success. Built on AWS infrastructure and using generative AI models through Amazon Bedrock and Claude, Pulse gives teachers time back, relieves administrative burden, and delivers actionable insights to personalize instruction.

Project Overview
Pulse was created with one goal in mind: give teachers more time to teach. The platform integrates securely with Student Information Systems (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS), aligning with FERPA, HIPAA, and ADA requirements to ensure robust data protection.

Using the power of generative AI, Pulse delivers curriculum-aligned recommendations, supports student grouping, personalizes learning pathways, and assists with formative assessments. Through a secure and scalable AWS foundation, the platform brings together fragmented data into one holistic, intuitive interface that helps educators focus on student needs rather than administrative complexity.

Challenges Addressed: Burnout, Data Fragmentation, and Instructional Gaps
Across the country, educators are grappling with:
  • Growing burnout due to administrative overload
  • Complex student needs and widening post-pandemic learning gaps
  • Fragmented technology ecosystems and disconnected data platforms
  • Lack of timely, curriculum-aligned tools to inform instruction
ESC13 recognized that solving these challenges required a transformative, AI-enabled approach that reduces teacher workload while enhancing instructional impact.

Results: Rapid Development and Real-World Impact
With the support of AWS and expert technology partners, ESC13:
  • Reduced software development costs significantly
  • Accelerated product development from a projected two years to just seven months
  • Built a solution ready to support real-time classroom decisions, student grouping, and differentiated instruction
  • Created a foundation for future AI-powered tools that prioritize educator voice, data privacy, and instructional value
Pulse is already redefining how educators interact with technology — streamlining their workflows and helping close instructional gaps.

A National Model for AI-Powered Education Tools
ESC13’s development of Pulse sets a powerful precedent for how education service agencies can lead innovation. By addressing the root causes of teacher burnout and instructional inefficiency through a secure, AI-driven solution, the center has created a scalable model that can be adapted across the industry.
