(TNS) — Brown County, S.D., commissioners have eliminated the county's chief information officer position.

The board made the decision following a closed session discussion about personnel, said Auditor Cathy McNickle.

Paul Sivertsen had been chief information officer since December 2014.

McNickle said the position is no longer needed and the county will not fill the job.

Commission chairwoman Rachel Kippley said the two tech specialists in the county's information technology department will serve the county well. She declined to comment further on the elimination of Sivertsen's position other than to say his services were no longer needed.
