Stark County, N.D., Receives Federal Grant to Improve Broadband

The FCC will provide rural North Dakotans with funding for broadband in an effort to close the digital divide.

(TNS) -- The Federal Communications Commission has awarded a $3 million Rural Broadband Grant to Consolidated Communications Networks Inc. in Stark County, according to a statement from the office of Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D. The grant will go to help extend broadband service over a fiber network to 171 homes and businesses in parts of the county.

“These funds will help residents and businesses in Stark County get access to state of the art broadband internet access,” Cramer said.

Cramer, who is a member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, has worked to improve broadband internet access in rural areas.
