Parking Meter Upgrade Could Include Electric Car Chargers

Salt Lake City is poised to pluck its 2,000 coin-operated parking meters and replace them with their modern, electronic cousins. The $7 million upgrade -- still more than a year away -- could allow payment options ranging from debit and credit cards to cash, tokens, smartcards and smart phones.
