Hurricane Harvey: How You Can Help

The Red Cross, Salvation Army and others are taking donations.

(TNS) - In the coming days and weeks ahead, Hurricane Harvey victims will need assistance. Here are some ways to help:

American Red Cross: The Red Cross is asking those who wish to donate money to use their website at redcross.org or to text the word HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10. Volunteers are also being sought, and that information is available on the Red Cross’ volunteer website at redcross.org/volunteer.

You can also donate blood — find drives near you at the Red Cross’ blood drive site at redcross.org/give-blood.

Salvation Army: Information about donating money or volunteering time to the Salvation Army can be found at the organization’s disaster website at disaster.salvationarmyusa.org.

Austin Disaster Relief Network: The group says they have already received one of the largest responses in its history, according to the Austin American-Statesman. They are seeking funds to help provide support to storm survivors. For a tax-deductible gift donation, go to adrn.org/give.

Catholic Charities USA: According to ABC News, the organization has set up a website devoted to relief for Harvey victims with the aim for “long term recovery.” You can find the website by going to catholiccharitiesusa.org.
