Local Emergency Manager Named to State Role in Maryland

Clay Stamp was appointed by Gov.-elect Larry Hogan and brings decades of emergency management experience to the position.

Maryland Gov.-elect Larry Hogan appointed Clay Stamp to be the director of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency on Jan. 15. Stamp has been Talbot County’s emergency services director, serving the local government since 2009. Prior to that he was the emergency manager of Ocean City from 1984 to 2004. Stamp was also a FEMA reservist on the Hurricane Liaison Team and worked for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.

“The best way for the Talbot County citizens to view this is that they’ve got one of their own standing watch,” Stamp told The Democrat Star. Stamp also told the Star that he’s up to the challenge.
