New York City Emergency Management got a lift from the Citymeals on Wheels to help get the city’s most vulnerable the knowledge they need to prepare for an emergency.

Citymeals on Wheels delivered My Emergency Planpreparedness workbooks, along with Presidents Day holiday meal boxes to more than 15,000 homebound elderly residents this week.
The workbook is designed to help New Yorkers with special needs create an emergency plan.

Seniors and people with disabilities can be particularly at risk during an emergency, but the My Emergency Plan guide outlines the steps they can take to be prepared,” said Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito in a news release. “We’re pleased to be able to team up with Citymeals on Wheels to help ensure that critical, possibly life-saving information will be available to some of the city’s most vulnerable population.”

My Emergency Plan is an interactive workbook that conveys preparedness lessons and aids in creating a plan. It has three sections designed to help people make the plan and gather emergency supplies.

CItymeals on Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of meals and companionship for the city’s elderly. It prepares older New Yorkers for long holiday weekends by providing packages with three “shelf-stable” meals like tuna, canned vegetables and applesauce.
