Driverless Cars Will Be Ready. What About Government?

There was a maxim about running in formation as a unit in the U.S. Army. You had to run at the pace of the slowest group of runners in the unit. Yes, there were speedsters who could run twice as fast as the slower runners, but the goal was to run as "a unit."  

This is the situation we have going on now. The technology speedsters are ready to take off and run as fast as the technology will allow. Then you have government plodding along with regulation and standards. Perhaps the government dragging their feet will help the technology folks improve their products before we run over a bunch of kids.
