FirstNet Delayed?

It looks like there will be a challenge to the award.

November came and went, which was the estimated date for the announcement on the award of the FirstNet contract to the successful bidder.

Now, there is this story AT&T is apparent selection to build FirstNet, as Rivada Mercury files protest over elimination from bid.

It was not unexpected that there would be a challenge. While the above is not the final word on the topic, it is an indicator on how things will play out. One complication for the delay in fielding FirstNet is the fact that funding provided to states for offices to coordinate the implementation of FirstNet will run out before the decision is made by governors to opt in or out of FirstNet. If the funding for offices like Washington state's OneNet office goes away, another state agency will have to pick up that body of work.

Troubles, troubles, troubles.
