Now this is the first I've heard of either legislation being in place in some states or the desire to have such legislation. However, it does not surprise me that someone would have that on their legislative agenda. The problem with this "social issue" is social media and the spread of rumors and untruths about what might happen during a disaster. I think some think because of a "Presidential or Governor Disaster Declaration" that with these powers, jack-booted FEMA troops (there are none!) will go house to house to seize guns from law-abiding citizens. Where would they store 300 million guns?
I put this right up there with the rumors that in Texas the United Nations was plotting to seize golf courses. I'm not making this up! Or, of course the more well known situation of the governor instructing the Texas National Guard to keep watch on active-duty military forces since they were about to try to seize control of the state of Texas. You can look that one up.
I expect a drastic downturn in the sale of guns in the United States. With President Obama out of office (of course he could be plotting a coup against the soon-to-be-inaugurated President Trump) the threat of having gun sales banned, large-capacity magazines prohibited, guns seized, is going way, way down — I would think. ... As for all the ammunition stored away. You might start shooting it up now. It won't last forever.
