What to Do In an Actual Asteroid Impact?

Some might pooh-pooh this issue

It was not that many years back that I might given asteroid impact as an example of something that we were not planning for. Well, I can't say that anymore. Does your Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA), include asteroid impact?

Check out this article, NASA, FEMA Test Asteroid Emergency Response — What to Do in an Actual Asteroid Impact? It is one example of why every emergency manager should have an evacuation plan for their jurisdiction (or state?)

It is but another illustration of life imitating the movies, see Deep Impact, which was about a comet hitting earth. Then of course there is the movie Armageddon with a really big asteroid. 1998 was a good year for objects from space hitting earth. Ah, I don't think we'll be sending a shuttle crew to outer space anytime soon.
