Critical infrastructure is an issue that has been much talked about, with only a little bit being accomplished in my mind. It is an area that I've paid attention to due to the increasing interconnectedness of our society. PNWER has led the effort in this region of the world on issue of critical infrastructure interdependencies. Bill Cumming shared the following with me:

Over the past year, the DHS Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) has been developing a public website with information for critical infrastructure protection. This new site, [Critical Infrastructure Protection] just went live this week, and contains a wealth of information regarding:

• Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR)
• National Infrastructure Protection Plan
• CIKR Sectors, including Government Facilities
• Infrastructure Protection Programs
• Training and Tools
• Key Publications

This website also houses a new CIKR Resource Center, which contains profiles on each of the 18 CIKR sectors, as well as other information regarding CIKR and the NIPP. FPS worked with DHS IP and the Education Facilities Subsector to develop the content for the GFS Overview page. Information that can be found in the CIKR Resource Center includes:

• Sector Overviews
• CIKR Partnerships
• Education and Training
• CIKR & Incident Response
• National Infrastructure Protection Plan
• Additional CIKR Resources

This is the type of resource data base that is need to provide a common reference point for people and organizations. It is nice to see this come to fruition!
