SF Heroes--Gamification of Emergency Preparedness

If you are tired of the same old disaseter preparedness brochures maybe social gaming will perk up your disaseter preparedness program

Last month when I was in San Francisco I picked up a flyer/card describing a new disaster preparedness outreach program called SF Heroes Check the web link provided which will give you a glimpse into what they are putting together.

This is not your samo, samo preparedness brochure.  It is integrating social media and mobile applications to reach an audience that would normally just toss that paper brochure into the trash--right after you handed it to them.

This is the type of thing we need to be trying to spice up our disaster preparedness efforts at reaching the general public.  Make it engaging, fun and not all doom and gloom.  Remember who we are competing with for eyeballs and ears.  We need to move into the 21st Century before it passes us by.

As they say, "Coming soon to the App Store."
