COVID-19 Transparency with Employees

Trust once violated is hard to rebuild.

Meat-packing companies have figured out that density of employees and the presence of the coronavirus can be a deadly combination. Telling employees about virus infections in their peers is one way to limit the spread of the virus to more vulnerable populations who may not be working, but living at home with employees who could have been exposed. The desire to "stay operational" is not limited just to meat-packing plants.

Here is an Oregon Public Radio story about an issue with one of our own emergency management agencies, Oregon Emergency Managers Refused To Alert Employees About Possible COVID-19 Exposure.

From an after-action point of view, learn from their mistakes and don't repeat them yourself. The virus is not going away anytime soon, so you could be presented with the same situation in the future.
