Declaring the COVID Pandemic as Being Over

Governments appear ready to do so.

Cases are way down, hospitalizations are down — yet deaths were at about 400 just yesterday. All that being said, it appears that everyone from the World Health Organization to the president of the United States to individual governors who declared emergencies appear poised to declare the pandemic “over!”

I’m ready, is everyone else ready? In the majority I’d say yes, we are ready for the pandemic to be over.

Watch for coming announcements from a wide variety of health and governmental organizations making the pronouncement and then also “hedging their bets” by adding qualifying language.

Is a pandemic over when everyone acts as though it is over? That appears to be one of the criteria for declaring the end to the pandemic.

I just know that the pandemic has been throwing curve balls the entire time it has been active and infecting people. My only BIG concern is another new variant that our current vaccines are not as effective in defending against.

Time will tell.
