DHS Has Underfunded Counter-Drone Programs

This may come back to bite them.

As any reader of this blog knows, I'm pro-drone! They have so many positive roles to play and like the automobile, they can be used for nefarious purposes.

See this story, OIG Says DHS Has Limited Capabilities to Counter Malicious Drone Use.

The key sentence in the article is this one, "DHS officials told OIG that funding for counter drone expansion unsuccessfully competed with other mission priorities for budget resources." These are the decisions that come back to bite you in the future. For starters, they need $5M. Maybe they will get the funding to support program staff in the 2021 federal budget.

I do know they will be getting hundreds of millions of dollars after there is a successful strike by a drone against a portion of our critical infrastructure.
