Job: Emergency Management Zone Coordinators, WA State

This is for King County in the metro Seattle area.

King County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has two regional coordinator positions open.

See the details at the link above. Evidently, depending on qualifications, you might have a different classification.

These positions have been funded by grant funds for over 17 years, so the fact that they are listed as being offered as full-time term-limited temporary should not scare someone off.

The positions are not described as such, but they are replacing two zone coordinators who transitioned out of their positions (back in the day they were actually contractor-filled positions).

In addition to the city of Seattle, there are another 38 cities in King County. There are two zones outside of the city of Seattle and each zone coordinator networked with the cities within “their zone” assisting them in their emergency management programs and representing them and their needs to King County OEM. It is possible that those duties will be modified going forward.

We need good people — so if not you, forward the information to those you know would do a good job.
Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
