My 'Fake News' Sources

Where do you get your fake news from?

Continuing my thinking about my "dental chair experience" back in November.

The question was asked, "where do you get your news from?" I replied with, "Here are my fake news sources:"

  • New York Times
  • Washington Post
  • NBC News
  • ABC News
  • CBS News
  • BBC News
  • NPR News
  • 60 Minutes
  • Politico
  • The Hill
And assorted news stories from "reputable" sites, e.g., today's posting on Homeland Security News Wire: "Barr: DOJ Has Found Nothing that Could Impact Election Result."

If you read this blog than you will have seen my quoting and sharing a variety of podcasts as information sources...which are not "news" but points of information and sometimes commentary.

Several years back I had a visitor/official from Europe interviewing me about emergency management. As we finished up, she asked me, "Where do you get your news?" She was appalled at the lack of depth in our news coverage and the sometimes frivolous "information/stories" that are covered in national news. It has become common to have national news share what I'll call "feel good stories" at the end of the program. Truly, we have crossed over into "infotainment" in some cases in our news coverage here in the United States. The ABC Evening News is called "World News Tonight" but in actuality, there isn't much "world news" covered.
